Smart Card Alliance Events
The Alliance hosts three important industry conferences each year–the Payments Summit in February, the Smart Card Alliance Annual Conference or NFC Solutions Summit in the Spring, and the Smart Card Alliance Government Conference in the Fall–in addition to periodic in-person council meetings and web seminars. These popular events attract a broad audience to learn about new smart card initiatives, applications and technology.
The annual Payments Summit focuses on exciting new trends and projects that are accelerating the widespread acceptance, usage and application of EMV, contactless and NFC mobile payments technology for transportation and general retail payment applications. The 2012 Payments Summit brings industry stakeholders and end users from the banking, retail, mobile, and transportation ecosystems together to explore in depth the impact that EMV contact and contactless payments and NFC mobile payments will have on next generation payments adoption in these industries.
The Smart Card Alliance Annual Conference is a multi-track, annual event that covers all smart card markets and applications. While held in conjunction with CTST in 2008 and 2009, the Annual Conference was back in 2010 and 2011 as a standalone Smart Card Alliance event. In 2012, the May event is the NFC Solutions Summit. The NFC Solutions Summit will cover the state of this promising technology, including developments in new NFC devices and add-ons, the status of the growing NFC ecosystem, NFC-enabled payments and other popular applications in North American and international markets.
The Smart Card Alliance Government Conference focuses on the massive deployments of smart cards in government programs worldwide. Each year, the smart card industry gathers in Washington, DC, to hear from government leaders and industry professionals on what is happening in this rapidly moving and changing security and identity credential industry segment. This event also features an exhibit hall that provides vendors with the opportunity to demonstrate their industry-leading technology to a large body of government decision makers and end-users.
Additional members-only events are held to provide our Industry Councils, who normally work via teleconference, with the opportunity to meet in-person to discuss new ideas and present committee work to the larger Alliance organization. The Alliance also sponsors periodic web seminars and briefings on topics of interest to the industry.
