Council and Chapter Email Policy
The following policies were approved by the Smart Card Alliance Board Committee on Councils and Chapters in December 2007.
The following outlines rules and procedures for electronic mail (email) messages sent or received via the Smart Card Alliance email lists.
Purpose
- The purpose of email sent via the Smart Card Alliance email lists is to conduct Smart Card Alliance business.
Usage
Email messages may not contain content that may be considered offensive or disruptive and may not be used to engage in any illegal or wrongful conduct. Offensive content includes but is not limited to obscene or harassing language or images, racial, ethnic, sexual or gender specific comments, or images or other comments or images that would offend someone on the basis of their religious or political beliefs, sexual orientation, national origin or age.
Messages sent using the Smart Card Alliance email lists should not be forwarded outside of Alliance membership unless approved by Smart Card Alliance management.
The Smart Card Alliance does not and cannot guarantee that communications over its facilities will remain inviolate from observation by persons not intended to receive them.
The Smart Card Alliance reserves the right to access and disclose the contents of all messages created, sent or received using its email lists.
Violations
Violation of this email policy may result in disciplinary measures, including:
Temporary and/or permanent removal of the individual violating the policy from the email list; and
Temporary and/or permanent removal of the individual violating the policy from Smart Card Alliance council and/or chapter participation.
Email policy violations will be reviewed by the Smart Card Alliance Committee on Councils and Chapters to determine consequences. The Committee on Councils and Chapters will determine disciplinary measures for any violation.
Individuals violating email policy may appeal the Committee on Councils and Chapters’ decision in writing to the full Smart Card Alliance Board of Directors for reconsideration of consequences. The Board of Directors’ decision in any appeal will be final.
