In his over 20 years of professional business dealings, Dale Grogan has been on literally every side of transactions, from entrepreneur, buyer, seller, to investment banker. Mr. Grogan has started and owned numerous businesses, including an NASD broker/dealer firm, several technology companies, and consulting firms focused on start-up businesses. His technical and business management experiences include: smart card technologies, medical, aviation leasing, entertainment financing, telecommunications, technology innovation, real estate development, distribution, and governmental contracting.

Mr. Grogan currently serves as the Director of Smart Card Initiatives for SMART Association, Inc. (“SMART”), based in Citrus Heights, California. SMART is the leading provider of membership marketing programs for hospitals as well the developer of LifeMed, a new smart card-based, patient access and medical information platform. At SMART, Grogan is responsible for product development, market positioning, and sales.

Prior to his efforts with SMART, Mr. Grogan was a founder of Leapfrog Smart Products, Inc., an early entrant into the smart card software development space. Mr. Grogan took the Leapfrog parent company public in 2000. Leapfrog sold into the governmental, healthcare, and international markets. Leapfrog was later sold to a private entity. During that period of time, Mr. Grogan was an original member of the GSA Interoperability Standards Committee for the development and usage of Smart card applications within the federal government.

Mr. Grogan is a noted writer and speaker, having published several articles on various topics, and has been a featured speaker at numerous technology conferences. Additionally, Mr. Grogan has given expert testimony before the United States Congress on the topic of US/China trade relations. He has also been a guest lecturer at Grand Valley State University.

Mr. Grogan attended Huntington College (Montgomery, AL) where he studied chemistry and biology and was granted early admission to the University of Alabama School of Optometry (Birmingham, AL), where he studied general optometry and physiological optics.
