Vanderhoof Addresses Jan 27 Federal IAB Meeting (Audio)
Randy Vanderhoof, Executive Director of the Smart Card Alliance addressed the Federal Interagency Advisory Board (IAB) at the January 27, 2010 meeting in Washington, DC. Randy’s 20 minute address covers these topics:
Randy updated the attendees on the Smart Card Alliance Physical Access Council workgroup accomplishments and future projects related to the Federal ICAM Roadmap and a dialog between the Alliance members and GSA and NIST regarding FIPS 201 Product Certification and pending standards work at NIST.
He also announced two Smart Card Alliance’s education and training programs available for the federal smart card market; including two new on-line training programs consisting of video-taped recording of past live classroom training courses on PIV implementation and next-generation PACS systems and LEAP.Gov–a modified government version of the Alliance’s Leadership, Education, and Advancement Program (LEAP), a personal membership in a continuing education, training, and professional development program that can lead to a certification as a Certified Smart Card Industry Professional (CSCIP).
Randy concluded his address by announcing an agreement for the Smart Card Alliance to host four joint IAB/SCA meetings in 2010 beginning in March. The Alliance will provide extended meeting space at these IAB meetings to hold two afternoon breakout sessions after the IAB meeting ends to allow government and industry to meet together to further discuss issues related to government smart cards, PKI, and identity management policies, standards, and implementation strategies. These joint IAB/SCA meetings will include a free web cast so that government personnel and Alliance members across the country will be able to listen to and view the presentations and discussions at these meeting as they happen over the internet.
