Datacard group supports ROHS compliance

Datacard Group today confirmed its support of the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, which limits the use of environmentally harmful substances in electronic and electric equipment. Many of the company’s existing offerings, as well as all newly developed products, are or will be RoHS compliant by the July 1, 2006, deadline. [ read the full release ]

New White Paper Recommends Contactless Technology for Meeting Goals of High Throughput and Privacy Protection at Border Crossings:

Contactless smart card technology best meets the objectives set forth by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for high throughput and the protection of individual privacy at the nation’s border crossings for its People Access Security Service (PASS) card program supporting legislation directed by the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). PASS cards would be required by 2008 for all U.S. citizens who cross the northern and southern borders of the United States without passports. OTI awarded mass transit ticketing project to supply cards for Israel's mass transit system

On Track Innovations Ltd, (OTI) (NASDAQ: OTIV), a global leader in contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions, for homeland security, payments, petroleum payments and other applications, today announced that OTI has been awarded a contract for supplying Calypso compliant contactless smart cards for payment in public transportation in Israel. The contract was awarded by the Ministry of Transportation of the State of Israel and managed by Adalya Economic Consulting Ltd., a private economic consulting firm. [ read the full release ]

Gemalto becomes operational with this new step in the combination :

Axalto (Euronext NL0000400653 AXL) and Gemplus International S.A. (Euronext: LU0121706294 - GEM and NASDAQ: GEMP) announce that the contribution in kind to Axalto of the interests in Gemplus of TPG and the Quandt family entities, 25.2% and 18.3% respectively, in aggregate 43.4% of Gemplus share capital, has been completed today on the basis of an exchange ratio of 2 Axalto shares for every 25 Gemplus shares.
