The CardMan® 3821 is the enhanced PIN pad reader model. In addition to a keyboard for secure PIN entry, it also provides a display for messages from the application. If your application requires user interaction with the reader, this high-speed reader is the perfect choice.

Thanks to the Common Criteria EAL3+ security certification you can rest assured that your PIN and credentials remain within the reader and are therefore safe from viruses, worms or phishing attacks.

High-Speed

Based on revolutionary chip technology, jointly developed with Atmel, the class 2 PIN pad device with display CardMan® 3821 supports reader-tocard data transmission rates of up to 420 KBits per second, exceeding the performance of other smart card readers.

Standards

Because the CardMan® 3821 complies with all relevant industry standards (ISO 7816, EMV - Europay, Mastercard, Visa - 2000, Microsoft® WHQL, USB CCID, PC/SC, HBCI - Home Banking Computer Interface, the PC-2001 Specification and many more) it is open for any smart card on any computer for any application. The smart card reader is Common Criteria EAL 3+ certified.

Security-Features

The CardMan® 3821 has a display with two lines (2x16 characters) indicating the secure mode with a special sign. The commands for the Secure PIN Entry (SPE) can be given in five languages by default (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish). Other languages can easily be programmed. The content on the smart card is protected by a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to prevent unauthorized copying or use of the information stored on the card. The sensible data is neither stored on the PC nor communicated via insecure PC/reader connection but remains within the card/reader environment.

Applications

Applications for the new desktop PIN pad reader with display include digital signature, secure online banking and other online transactions, loyalty programs, healthcare solutions and many more future applications. The usage within an application is based on standardized interfaces like PC/SC (ready for 2.0), OCF (Open Card Framework) or CT-API.
