New York, NY, April 25, 2002–The Department of Defense has earned this year’s Outstanding Smart Card Application (OSCA) Award from the Smart Card Alliance. Smart Card Alliance Announces Randy Vanderhoof To Serve As Acting President and CEO

New York, NY, April 15, 2002–The Smart Card Alliance, a non-profit association working to accelerate the widespread adoption of multiple applications for smart card technology, announced today that Randy Vanderhoof has been named Acting President and CEO for the balance of the fiscal year ending August 31st. Mr. Vanderhoof, a former Smart Card Alliance Board member and Assistant Secretary on the Executive Board, had recently been serving as a consultant to the Smart Card Alliance. The Smart Card Alliance Board of Directors is currently conducting a search for a permanent President and CEO.

New York, NY, February 27, 2002–The Smart Card Alliance, the largest smart card oriented non-profit entity in the world, formed by the merger in December 2000 of the Smart Card Industry Association (SCIA) and The Smart Card Forum (SCF), announced today that Donna Farmer, President and CEO of the association, would be leaving to form her own company. Ms. Farmer has held her position with the association since 1998, serving first as President and CEO of the Smart Card Forum and then of the Alliance after its formation.

Industry’s First Official Baseline for Smart Card Shipments Shows a 79 Percent Increase in Smart Card Shipments from First To Second Half Of 2001

AUSTIN, Texas, February 7, 2002–The Smart Card Alliance, a non-profit association working to accelerate the widespread adoption of multiple applications for smart card technology, today announced the findings of a report, “United States and Canada Smart Card Shipment Survey,” that shows a 45 percent growth in smart card usage in the United States and Canada from 2000 to 2001 and a 79 percent growth from the first to second half of 2001. This is the smart card industry’s first official baseline for North American smart card shipments and demonstrates the growing usage of smart cards within the U.S. and Canada. The findings were released today in Austin, Texas during the Alliance’s February conference.

The Smart Card Alliance announced this and other research results at their Annual Meeting yesterday in McLean, Virginia.

Smart Card Alliance Announces New Executive Board Members
