Government Conference Special Edition Event: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of HSPD-12

Thursday, July 31, 2014
Marriott Metro Center Hotel
Washington DC.

The Smart Card Alliance Government Conference Special Edition Event: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of HSPD-12 will commemorate this landmark government-wide security directive signed by President Bush in August, 2004. HSPD-12 was enacted to address the security and the wide variety of identification credentials used to access secure facilities. The Directive established standards for verifying an individual’s identity and issuing a tamper-proof credential that could be rapidly authenticated electronically. Speakers for this one day event will include many of the original leaders and current heads of federal agencies and industry who will review and celebrate the advances in identity credentialing and access security over the past decade. The program will also look forward to future developments in policy and evolving standards for government-issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and their use by relying parties in physical and logical access systems, including use with mobile devices. In addition to the conference program, a small HSPD-12 identity management and access control vendor showcase will allow government attendees to visit and learn more about the security products and services that HSPD-12 has fostered in the government market. The showcase will open during the lunch break and closing after an evening reception with wine, beer and light hors d’oeuvres after the sessions end.
